Manager’s Message – August 20, 2008
Today marks the end of the first tropical weather event for 2008, and The Charter Club of Marco Beach fared well. Damage from Tropical Storm Fay was minimal, with only a few a trees and bushes blown over (see photo). In most every case, the trees that were blown over can be reset and saved. Some trimming may occur to remove loose or broken branches, but the severe damage that occurred during Hurricane Wilma was avoided during this storm.
The staff acted quickly and efficiently, and took the warnings very seriously. All pool furniture, patio furniture and other outdoor items including boats and bicycles were stowed away or tied down, resulting in no losses. The new hurricane doors and windows performed as expected, and there were no injuries.
We hope this will be the only tropical weather occurrence this year, but if it is not, I am confident we will again be prepared.
Best regards,
Matt Fox
